Mathias Geist was born September 11, 1748 in Frederick Twp. Mont., PA. He died the 24th of January 1823. He served at Valley Forge in Captain Dotterer's Company, 6th Battalion, Philadelphia County Militia. He held various local offices, and at one time was Commissioner of Philadelphia County.
