Genealogist's Resolutions

With the new year comes the new year's resolutions. Genealogists are special people so they need special resolutions. Here is a list of things I resolve to do in the new year.

I do hereby resolve to never stack all my genealogy notebooks next to the computer. (maybe they won't fall over and knock me off line next time.)

I will always write down that interesting url until I learn how to use this stupid computer's favorite list.

I will learn how to use this darn computer this year if it kills me.

I promise to no longer call my kids the descendants or my parents the ancestors.

I promise we don't have to stop at every cemetery we pass on vacation looking for uncle Bob.

I will label all the photos in my scrap book with first middle and last name, the year the photo was taken, and all other information I can think of, with acid free markers.

I will answer ALL the letters in my research pile no matter how old, and I hope that they don't come back return to sender.

I will no longer start conversations with people hoping that they like genealogy as much as I do.

I will no longer start conversations with family members with " and do you remember great great aunt Sally?"

And I will remember, above all, all resolutions made on new years eve are made to be broken.

Wishing everyone a happy and healthy New Year!
